just got a new rod so I fished fv & high st. this morning for 3 babies.
(soft jerkbait - carolina rig) Saw a guy bait fishing a little ways down from me hook something obviously much larger but he slipped on a rock and stacked.

    Great info, robn.

Thanks for the detailed info, it'll probably help some folks in the East Bay.

    Best,

Yes-no-maybe? I'm guessing this place will be mobbed by local kids tossing swimbaits by 11:00 this weekend since the word is out. but not so at 6 in the morning If youre really keen on fishing this spot then buy a bag of anchovies or a chinatown scoop of whitebait and chunk them up prior to getting there. toss a handful into the middle current or in the sewage waterfall and fish. repeat until fish stack up on your bait trail and you start getting bit. This spot can be an absolute waste of time if you hit it at an off time. but sometimes you have to take it when you can get it.
check the tide charts. "simple swim baits" sry not familiar with the term.
depending on the time of day try sardine color, sxy smelt, white char tip, chartreuse and basically visible opaque-ish lighter colored baits close to what the fish are eating which from what i have noticed is mostly whitebait. so silvery olive tan-ish colored baits?
check the tides if it says its high tide dont waste your time, the baitfish have already been flushed through the island. if the tide is incoming look to see the amount +/- and when it is happening and time your arrival. *Look at one of my pics and check the channel marker depth. If the tide is sucking out go to bayfarm and hit the outflows, or the marina edge at ballena ect. There are no guarantees here, welcome to the bay its a big place. the fish are in scattered packs looking for food throughout the bay in this area and its a big area. You lessen the chance of a skunk by planning the water movement and finding the structure they like and figuring out what theyre eating but other than that all i can say for possibles is maybe fishing bait for stripers, rays ect.. at berkeley pier or try your luck at possible stripers, sharks, smelt and possibly a flattie at the rockwall and I was told today that there were big schools of baitfish getting chased by something just across from there towards the ships. theres also some stripers and perch getting caught at TI if you want to go a bit futher.

    good luck.

I was out there on yesterday during my lunch break and could only manage one shaker before I couldn't handle the rain.

You're definitely spot on about reading the water. I hope this isn't an April Fool's post because you just gave away some invaluable info.

This was the biggest caught today. total damage was 10 swimbaits for 14 stripers and some wet shoes.

Just another morning in The town. Hitting the rockwall tommorow morning for flatties. Hope this helps somebody who wants to fish this area. All fish were released unharmed (though a couple were kissed on the head, but i think they didnt mind) Good luck fishing guys.

If you have any questions or comments feel free.
