Well I haven't read Cal's Trout Tactics and I've never had a problem using slip bobbers and floating bait. If you think about it the bait is held down with a small egg sinker or some sort of weight, put a 12-15 inch leader, small treble and your floating bait. If you are drifting the floating bait will be slightly back of the weight so it doesn't get tangled with the main line. This is a common tactic at BBL and works great.

Yup I sure had to move up from the kayak. Last time we were all on the kayak my wife was pregnant with the little one, but i think it would be too difficult now. The boat is great though!

I've been around... if you missed seeing posts check out the international section I was doing a lot of ice fishing in Canada this last winter.

Great post. Nice to see you around again.

Maybe you daughter can teach the new born her famous "Fishie! Fishie!" song.

The family grows and you have to step up from a kayak to a bigger boat.

She was playing him and all of a sudden slack line. The 4 pound stren leader broke at the knot. That was if for the first day. Friday the forecast was for 10% chance of rain but the skies looked more like 100% chance. Sure enough it started to pour on us. We got the top up and had an excellent hour of fishing. Hooking 6 and landing 5 of them. These fish were caught on a slip float down 15 feet with sliding egg sinker and Berkley Chunky Cheese Power Bait. Sorry for the poor lighting, tough to film in the rain. Lots of fun though.

Your reports are always fun. Your passion is obivous. I lived in eastern LA county for many years and considered Big Bear the only worth while fishing spot on So. Cal. Spent many a day fishing by the dam or the observitory. Your family is beautiful.
