This guy was hungry. Didn't even hook it the blue gil spikes held in there for me. Kept this 10lber that choked it and released a 7 and 5. Summer fishing ain't too bad

    Striper Bragging Thread 2017

The high flows and cold temps made for good fishing last week along numerous tributaries. Water dropped post Friday and the fish are GONE.

Wednesday evening I threw a Reaction Innovations Vixen that Monkey916 had painted for me and had a gigantic blowup with instant connection. Fish dragged me to deep water for a second, I knew she was big, then she turned back around and on a maxed out Daiwa Aird Coastal, she burned into the gnarliest trees and tied herself up. After draining over half the spool of 65# braid, she sawed me off and was gone. Absolutely heartbroken as I never had hooked a topwater fish in this area before. Guess that's what I get for using the lightest of my setups. The following evening I returned with my Dobyns 806 and 80# braid on my strongest Okuma 364 reel and still had a brawl with the last fish that smashed a big pencil popper.

Taking off and flying is easy, it's the landings that will kill you.

Put my friend Jason on a #10 pre spawner the other evening. Had another fish on for a minute that was truly a toad. Cooler water temps sure are nice.

WOW! All you guys are badasses!!! those were some amazing fish, thanks for sharing pictures. I have to look at pictures because I myself can't seem to nail any decent ones over 20 inches. I throw huge swimmies and pencil baits, but just catch fish the same size as my baits!!!! very frustrating. I don't think I'm fishing the right spots. I know i'm using the right baits. GRRRRR. One of these days I will join the ranks of you guys.
