    You're over thinking it. 7-8 foot medium action spinning rod and 8-10 lb test line. Tackle won't be a fortune either.

    Yep Chris. Those first two are the biggest I've caught in 15 years. That fillet knife if 11 inches. The guy I talked to said he caught a couple earlier in the week that were bigger.

    Monterey surf

    we fished at the academy. My uncle has a gate key. It's private. The only way to get there is to walk from sunset or manresa. Sand crabs for bait 3 oz of weight. First two bites were the biggest of the day. Threw back a handful of little guys to grow bigger. Kept 7. That's a 11 inch knife.
