Re: Collins Lake 3/19
They are scheduled to stock trout this week. In my experience it is usually the last few days in the week like Thursday but the truck gets there when it gets there. As far as the water clarity goes it is tough right now if you are trolling. Yesterday there was a little surface debris like pollen and a few leaves. We got over an inch of rain last night and some wind. Sometimes that helps clear the surface debris away but might add to the cloudy water issue. Just depends on how muddy the run off is. I have been getting a decent trout or 2 per week while bass fishing.
They might be a little behind on trout plants this year as compared to other years but if the website says they planted trout, they planted. They still intend to plant the same number of fish this spring it is just with the muddy water I think they are starting out a little slower.

Collins Lake 3/19
Fished Collins on Sunday. Water was very dirty --- MAYBE 2 feet of visibilty. Started way up the creek to see if it was any clearer -- not very much. Ended up with 3 small rainbows and 1 bass -- all caught toplining Kastmasters and Excel spoons in bright colors. Most everyone we talked to had zero or one trout -- one boat had 5 caught on Kastmasters, and talked to Denis Pierce of Artic Fox Trolling Flies -- they caught 5 -- using small dark flies behind wiggle discs and dodgers. It will be much better when it clears up a little.
