I have $30 and would love to go! I'd have to drive down from Tahoe. Have you been catching fish?

Seems like a great way to get out on the water with a slayer.

I've owned boats since the 60's but was boatless when my career took took top priority in the 80's. After I retired back in 2000 and still boatless, I replied to a hitch hike post here on the sniffer. He asked for $35 plus me bringing lunch for him...LUNCH too. I paid and brought lunch for him and was very grateful for getting back to fishing...and the rest is history.

I have a boat but have never fished Verona. As soon as I have some time I am seriously thinking about taking you up on that offer. Let's see I drive to Verona in a vehicle that gets way better mileage than my truck does. Pay the $30 for expenses and fish with someone who knows the area. That is way cheaper than if I towed my own boat and I wouldn't know how to fish there. Like I said I am in when I get the time. Deer season for me started yesterday in one zone and next week in another.

Damn, how did a simple offer to take someone out on their boat fishing for salmon for $30 turn in to a kind of hostile thread. Not criticizing anyone, just saying. When I haul my boat to Brannon from Elk Grove my expenses for truck gas, boat gas, launch fee, bait, ice and misc. easily exceed $100. If you don't have a boat then $30 to spend a day on a boat fishing with a new friend is cheap, way way cheap (even if the expenses aren't anywhere close to my expenses). Again not criticizing anyone just think this thread got a little out of hand. If I was boatless I'd take him up on the offer in a minute.

    Re: ISO hitchhikers sac salmon

    Here’s my take.

The cost of the boat, maintenance, slip/storage fees, annual tags, insurance, or any other related upkeep shouldn’t be included in a day’s charge and if they are, then the skipper shouldn’t own a boat.

However, what ever the skipper of the boat wants to charge for a day’s fishing on his/her boat, it is what it is.

I’d recommend for anyone wanting to hitch hike or seek any hitch hiker should familiarize themselves with the hitch hiker’s creed found here:
