I just went through that purchasing our tent trailer. I measured out what maximum size I could fit where I was putting it and knew I couldn't go above that. I found one in Lodi on CL and specifically asked them to measure it before I came down. I explained I needed to know the overall travel length, even explaining that means closed, from rear bumper to the front of the tongue. My maximum was 14.5ft. The seller said it measured right at 14. I drove down one evening from Orangevale, in the heart of the commute because it was the only time the seller had available, and as soon as I rounded the corner I could see it was too long. When I pulled out my tape and measured 17.25 the guy said "I couldn't find a tape measure so I was using a yard stick." Say what? Walking it off heel to toe would have been more accurate. Then he try's putting it on his wife, "she was keeping track of how many lengths and must have miscounted".

Just goes to show you can't find Good help
