Re: CA Delta Crappie Where to Find Them?

I’d love to hear more, I gotta confess I usually pick a spot I plan to striper and catfish and then if there are Lillies or reeds or pilings I’ll do a little panfishing with gulp! Minnows or jigs or a worm. Minnows kind of help me get the smaller bluegill outta the way that jump on the worms too fast before crappie show up.

I’m shorebound though, I think many of the crappie rich spots are only realistically boat accessible- the back sloughs and marinas seem to be where most people pick them up

And suggestions for a guy fishing from shore to get into them more consistently?

You can find Crappie in sloughs outside of Francts Tract. You need to be in a boat. Right across from the Sugar Barge in the grass is where they always hang out. Berkely powerbait emerals minnows gets em all the time. Ive pulled 1 and 2 lb slabs out of there.

Check us out on youtube... Famous Fishing Cal Delta. You will see us pulling them out of the spots there.

Docks and pilings are a sure thing. Also Discovery Bay holds lots of them.

Pull out your Crappie jigs and work that area because these guys really do all hang around each other. I have caught more crappie this year than ever simply because if we are catching bluegill, I start throwing jigs and I've caught a bunch of them this year. I really hope this helps. Tight lines.
P.S. I'm fishing in Walnut Grove and the area around Tower Park.
