Queenannesrevenge is right about half Moon Bay going WFO. People had limits before 9. Quality size fish too. Much shorter run to get to fish if you launch from half moon bay. The only reason I'll make the run to the islands is so I can combo on rockfish as well. Just remember if salmon are in the boat all hooks used must be barbless, even for rocks.

It was a little upsetting because I actually ran all the way to the islands. It's where I got the rocks, I didn't see any party boats though. They couldn't have been more than a few miles from me but once I decided to go for lings I was done searching for salmon. I put over 100 miles on the boat. That's opening day though, thank God it's over. Now we can focus on catching fish and not locating fish. The party boats pretty much keep that figured out.
They're south of the farralons, bodega is also wfo and it's a much shorter run to the fish
    Deep reef(hmb) went wfo too
So basically... 60 miles of fish, very few on the inside.

    30-50 fathoms of water.

Anyone reading this who may be new to salmon in the ocean, this is a normal pattern.
The Monterey fish that went AWOL moved up and out during the last upwelling. They'll beat that upwelling up until it dissipates.
The fish hiding under the islands right now typically make a clockwise north west route to drakes bay, then down to duxbury reef.

Look at the sea surface temp and chlorophyll shot from Sunday, those fish will follow that cold brown water
Could make a search next weekend shorter. Also might be able to find unmolested fish as 500 of your closest friends will be chasing the cattle cattleboats
Lots of shallow fish 20-40' otw stuffed with krill and squid.

I'll be at the North tower around 515-530 am to meet a buddy so we can run out together. I plan on setting a heading towards dux. If anyone else is gonna be out there early enough they are more than welcome to run along with us. If you see a trophy c.c and a whaler c.c. give us a shout. I hope everyone that goes out has a productive and safe day! I'll report back with what we find.

That purple blob west of dux buoy should be worth a look
Party boats are returning from farralons, so somewhere between farralons and sf.
The Marin coast looks warm and blue green water.
The weather tomorrow looks absolutely atrocious!
11' nw swells, south wind and a 4' wind chop
These are confused seas, the bar will be breaking on the ebb max ebb is 0530 tomorrow morning.
That ebb tide will be moving 5knots against a west swell IP to 11' tall
Even more "conservative" swell reports are 6-8 at 10 seconds with a mixed south wind wave at 8 secs.
So assuming NOAA is wrong, still sporty maybe too sporty for slow boats to find fish. I wouldn't leave my halibut gear at home....
Good luck to those that go wear pfds and have your throw bag ready. Don't try and turn around in the potato patch or bar
