Ocean salmon are pretty dumb and will eat about anything
My buddies a major tackle ho and painted a 5" sling blade watermelon and slapped a 6/0 siwash on the back and catches the shoot out of fish with it. I fell over laughing the first time the downrigger popped
Fwiw I've caught more ocean salmon on plain cut okung herring and cable baiters eith no attractor whatsoever(less drag)

has anyone used a dodger on a party boat? I use the triangle type right after the release, seems to work great.

Your rod and reel are perfect
    2.5 or 3# balls
    Dog whistle weight release
    40# leader
Cable baiters, any of the rotary devices like the fbr, rsk etc. 4.5 apex in watermelon (30# leader on the apex, they don't run right on heavier leaders)
Flashers: red, green and uv will cover the spectrum
Rotating, triangle or Dodger doesn't matter much.

Salmon on a Party Boat, Gear?

    Hello Fellow Sniffers,

Might be going out of Halfmoon Bay, party boat.
Please give me some help of what gear/tackle to bring.

Phenix 808 with a shimano tekota 500 LC

    Big Al flasher.
    How heavy leader, etc?
I have a couple of weight releases. How much lead?

Im set up for rivers. Cut plugs, Pro toll flashers.
    Some spinners.

    Please help, what to bring.
