We visit there once or twice a year. Never fished but have seen sharks caught off the pier (before the construction) and perch caught off the beach. Our friends live there and they fish once in awhile, there are some nice halibut but you have to know where.

There is a sizable gang of sea lions which hang out underneath the Avila pier and warning signs were posted. We used to peek underneath the stairway with flashlights and gawk at some monster sea lions under there, was kinda scary.
