Re: California regulations for mechanical hook setter?

Cal.ndn, I call it "Wintering Well"!

Back to topic....Jawjacker website says the product is legal in all states except Minnesota. Wonder if that will keep me out of the wardens ticket book! Think Ill call fish and game just to be sure.

Re: California regulations for mechanical hook setter?

Here is the hook setter on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ice-Fishing...BEK:rk:10:pf:0

I did a video once goofing around with one and just called it a Jaw Jacker goofing around. Maybe there is one by that name but don't know.

I looked all over the regs including the new 2019 and couldn't find anything on mechanical hook setting. They did mention a dip net couldn't be moved by any mechanical means. I thought I read something years ago about mechanical hook setting being allowed if only powered by the rod itself or something to that effect.

California regulations for mechanical hook setter?

Im starting to get the ice fishing itch and saw a product called jawjacker on youtube that looks interesting. I read the current regulations and cant find any reference to mechanical hook setting devices. I have always thought that tip ups were prohibited in California. Can anyone point me to a link that gives a definite answer to this??? Thanks!
