    Re: Flushing Salmon Blood

Ive seen similar techniques in videos. The commercial guys have to keep fish fresh for a long time. It takes a while to get from the boat to processor, to grocery store to BBQ. I dont know that its necessary for us sport guys, but it sure cant hurt. Im sure it fits the highest quality possible test.

    Very cool tip.

    Thanks

    Flushing Salmon Blood

I read about “flushing” Salmon blood to get the highes quality and better tasting catch.
    https://wsg.washington.edu/wordpress...ing-Salmon.pdf

My friends Mark and Oscar flushes theirs and confirmed that the Salmon taste much better than just slitting the gill to bleed.

Today, Oscar gave me a plastic type syringe tip and some clear tubing that I attached to a 1 gallon sprayer tank. Being that I don't have a 12v pump on my boat, this sprayer will produce a low pressure salt water stream to flush the blood.

Other species can also be flushed such as Steelhead, Trout, Koke, Striper to name a few.

    Thought I'd share.
