    Awesome job. That is why we fish for these things. I haven't even made it up there this year yet. The way it looks as of today Jan 31 would be killer after a large spike. Another time I can't make it. ugh...

    Thanks, I felt like I just got lucky. I also missed a solid bit near the end of the drift.

    Nice,,,, i was on the river with you. We only hooked 1 small one that spit the hook. We cancelled Friday also , high and muddy.

    Thursday was really a little to high and fast too but worth a try,
    you were one of the very few that hooked up.

    Smith report

    I headed up to the Smith for a few days, as I've learned the river and the weather is always a roll of the dice. Thur 1/23 the water was a tad high at 12' but green, I headed out on a drift boat and hooked into an angry hen, 15 min later she was released. Planned a drift for the following day but the Smith was up another 3 feet and stained. Fish are there, local reports are good, the river has simply been going back and forth between fishable and not.
