Good report Dennis. You know Glory Hole sports sells killer BBQ Sandwiches right. I forgot my luck a couple times just so can stop in there.

Nice job on the solo Melones run Dennis.

Have not been to New Melones this year. With the chance for big fish it's been too hard to leave Berryessa but I'm thinking a New Melones trip might be in my future.

    Good Job Dennis,

Every time the alarm goes off at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning the first thing that goes through my mind is why do I do this?? Should I have taken up Golf??

Then a good morning on the water makes that go away. But, if you can get a pattern going on late arrivals. I could get used to that real quick

I hope New Melonies doesn't shut off early this year like it did last year.

Sure hope Mrs. Gadget doesn't read this.....I'll never get her to wake up early. Well done, you got to sleep in, got your fish and no issues with Osprey. Major success story right there.

    Dennis,

It sounds like you didn't have time for a sandwich anyway!

I like your "bankers hours" style of fishing...you may be on to something!!

New Melones Overslept but still five to the box by 9:15 (yawn)

    Best Depth: 54'
    Best Speed: 1.4
Best dodger/lure combo RMT pink splatter RGT pink
Second combo: RMT orange splatter with a Red/Orange RGT
    Area: Spillway
    Scent: Kokanee Special

Invited someone but he had to wait for a washmachine to show up at his house and couldn't come out to play. Decided to go solo as it was kinda late to ask someone else. Woke up about an hour and a half later than I wanted. AND NO I didn't set an alarm clock as I usually wake up before it goes off.

First line in the water around 7:40 within a few minutes it's bouncing FISHON! Put that one in the box reset and start to get the second rod out. Put the second rod down and FISHON! Now I'm starting to think maybe there's something to this sleeping in. Finally it slows for a little as I get closer to where the boats are fishing. After twenty or thirty minutes of nothing the I recall the old adage 'never leave fish to find fish' sooo I decide to head back to the spot and proceed to hook up again. This one goes in the box but I manage to put a nice birds nest in the line. It seemed like 20 minutes went by but I finally manage to get it straightened out and setup again. I trolled a little and picked up a near double to finish my morning at around 9:15.

I counted 20 boats working the spillway / North end of Rose Island. I didn't see many nets flying either but with the ospry's nearby who knows. As I was cleaning up and putting my gear away, I overheard a coversation between two boats and one boat had 3 fish the other not even a bite.

Left my sandwich at home and 10:00 was a bit early to stop at Rodz for a burger.
    Sorry no pics this time.
