That works for sure. Keep trying, out there. I got a couple of nice 8lbrs last Sunday. Fresh stripes are moving in daily. The bite will only continue to get better.

Question Am I doing this right?

What's up fellow anglers! I'm new to fishing and wanted your opinion on my rig for striped bass fishing on the deep water channel in West Sac. Currently I have been trying the following rig with limited catches off the bank (no boat yet). Any advice is much appreciated:

Rod: Shakespeare Two-piece Medium Heavy Action Ugly Cat Spinning combo 7ft (See product link: Amazon)
Line: Power Pro Braided Green 30lb
    Leader: 20lb monofilament
Hook: Gamikatsu Octupus Red Size #4

I usually run a 3-4 foot leader with a 4oz pyramid shaped weight

Excuse my terminology, still picking up on the lingo

Any help is much appreciated! Here's a pic of my first striper from Nov 11'. 14" Not much to look at, but still fun! Don't mind the rod in the pic, it was a freebie I borrowed before getting my own setup.
