Collins Lake
Yuba County, California

Collins Lake

    Fishing Notes:
  • Rainbow Trout - Fishing is best in the spring, when the lake management and the DFG plant a total of 40,000 rainbows, including trophy fish. Bank fishing is best for anglers using power Bait, nightcrawlers and lures off the dam, near the boat ramp and near the bridge. Trollers find success throughout the lake with a variety of minnow imitation lures and nightcrawlers behind flashers.
  • German Browns - Are also caught year round, but the best action is in the spring and winter. Cast or troll Rebels, Rapalas and Smithwick lures.
  • Spotted Bass - Active throughout the year, with the top action in the spring. Use jigs and plastic worms, flukes, lizards and grubs. Top water action is also good in the late spring and fall. Some hefty Florida-strain largemouths are also found in the lake.
  • Channel Catfish - Action is most consistent during the summer and fall. Fish clams, mackerel and chicken livers at night.
