Lake Hennessey Recreation Area
Napa County
Fishing Notes:
Largemouth Bass are abundant throughout the lake. Fish crankbaits, spinnerbaits and worms in the weeds and brush in the creek inlets in spring and early summer. Fish top water baits early and late in the day during summer and early fall.
Smallmouth Bass provide the best action nin the spring and fall. Use worms and soft jerk baits off rocky areas.
Rainbow Trout offer the top action in winter and spring. Bank fish with Power Bait and crawlers near the dam and boat ramp. Trollers find success with minnow imitation lures throughout the reservoir.
Catfish go on the prowl after winter and spring rains. Soak mackerel and worms in the creek mouths.
Black Crappie fishing has declined, but bank anglers can still catch decent-sized fish using minnows and small jigs at night near brush and structure. Other panfish found in Hennessey include bluegill, redear and green sunfish.
