My friend Ed and I went over to Rio Vista and fished about 6 or 7 spots between Brannon Island and the Bridge on the outgoing tide with no results, just small Stripers and Catfish. Then we went back to the first spot and fished the incoming tide. Within 30 minutes I had boated these 3 Stripers, 8.9# - 29", 5.5# - 24" and 6.6# - 25 ". Ed could only give support and get in some netting practice while I boated the fish, but then I have had to do the same for him on previous trips. Since the day wasn't a skunk day, we were both happy fishermen anyway. Thank You, Bob Cummings

Lindsay Bilyeu
Check out this Pyramid Cutthroat Photo! Believe it or not, that male was only 6.5 lbs! It was one of many recent post-spawners caught that COLD day while pulling small spoons near shore. Lindsay Bilyeu

Nina's Salmon
Most of the time my husband and I lake fish for trout and kokanee in the Sierra foothills. This year we wanted to try bigger game fish - salmon fishing in Monterey Bay. So we hooked up with some gear experts and prepared our boat for ocean water travel. On May 5, we trolled Soquel Hole, GPS coordinates 36'51/121'53 about 45 feet down. My line hadn't been in the water for more than five minutes when a king struck my silver and black Apex. I grabbed the rod hanging on for dear life and after about 10 exciting minutes my hubby netted my silver prize. Wow! What an experience. Not bad for an angler who didn't know a green glow hootchie from a red crocodile less than a week ago! Nina Stolar - P.S. Special thanks to Sniffer's Mark Wagner's Ocean Trolling for Salmon Articles - they were very helpful.
Mikayla Schott and her friend Brooke
Attached is a picture of our daughter Mikayla Schott and her friend Brooke. Mikayla caught this beauty at Loch Lomond Lake in Felton California close to our home. Just us girls went out and rented a little battery powered boat. Mikayla was using a "Phoebe" to land this Rainbow Trout while trolling at about 55 feet. The look on Mikayla's face was precious as she carried her catch up the dock to show it off to other fisherman. This was Mikayla's first fish caught at age 7. Kind regards, Lynetta Schott
Justin Dove
Hi, My son Justin caught this 17# striper on Saturday the 28th while fishing our favorite hole in the American River. He was using a custom lure I had modified to improve attraction to fish. Regards, Dan Dove

Fred at Pardee

Donny's Dino
Here`s the Hog that my neighbor Donny stuck at light 5 lower sac, outgoing tide, 28 feet of water, Sturgeon candy eel. Fenwick legacy 12-25 lb. rod rigged with an abu garcia 6500 C3 with 15 lbs. P-Line XX-Xtra strong mono. This beast went 69" and 85 lbs. Not bad for a first timer. Tried to get him to hold it out from his body to make it look bigger. Seems like he was more into butterfly kisses. What a fight. Jumped clear out of the water three times before I finally decided to lift the hook and chase it down. Nothing like watching a guy bust his first Dino. LATM ---GH---

Vincent Fontela and his Whopper
Hi!! I caught this big trout at San Pablo Dam on a Yo-Zuri Hydro Metal Spoon Green Mackerel lure 30 minutes to closing time on Saturday, April 14th. My Dad & I had been fishing since 7:30 that morning. We'd already caught 4 fish but we wanted to catch that last one for limit. My dad had already started to bring our stuff up to the truck (including the net) when he noticed my little tackle box that I keep my lures in. He brought the box down to me & asked if I wanted to try out the lures while he finished loading up the truck. I was just fooling around when I felt this tug. At first I thought I got stuck on a branch or something then I felt this weird pull. I started reeling & realized I'd caught on to something BIG. I yelled for my dad to get the net 'cause I had a big fish & he didn't believe me until he saw the big guy in the water. Luckily there was another fisherman hanging around & he gave his net to my dad. We took the trout up to the boathouse to have it weighed & measured. Turned out I got a "Whopper" (anything over 5 lbs) at 6.5# 22" long. They gave me a "Whopper" hat and my limit pin for the day. Not bad for just foolin' around and spending the day with my Dad. Thanks for taking the time to read my message, Vincent S. Fontela, 12 years old, San Francisco, CA
Channel Cats
Last July I was fishing at San Pablo reservoir near the dam when I was fortunate to catch not one, but two channel catfish over 10 pounds (10.4 and 10.6) using anchovies. It was quite a tussle for both as I was using 8 lbs test and was fishing by myself. After about 10 minutes I got the first fish in the boat. I needed help with the second as it wrapped itself around my anchor line! I landed the second fish after getting some nearby fishermen to raise my anchor.
