When the regs say there is no limit, it means just that. No limit on 'dabs. With that in mind, take only the number you can use. No need to waste a resource, legal or not.

During the winter, when the saltwater partyboats have nothing else to legally fish for, they sometimes run sanddab trips. People usually come home with 50 or more a piece.

Scale them with the hose, trim fins, tail and head with a pair of kitchen shears pat dry sprinkle with a little garlic salt and put in your toaster on medium brown.

Just like fishey pop tarts.

I have been wanting to go out and catch some of these for bait for the lings, but don't really know how to go about it. I have catch them in the surf from the back at dillons beach. I would like to how to catch a couple dozen quick so I can get on to the BIG ONES. Info on catching mackrel would be great also.

Just outside the Moss landing harbor in Monterey, can't keep them off the hook using squid for bait.

Sand dabs, Sabiki rigs with a small piece of squid added. Weight top and bottom so it lays flat on the ocean floor. If you see a bite just leave it there so all the hooks fill up. Doesn't take long.
