Whats everyones favorite setup for amador?

Ive had my best success on j-5 firetiger rapalla, both trolling it and casting from the shore.

2nd fav. Metallic perch kastmaster

3rd fav. toplining pink grub with yellow power egg

I remember limiting out on massive trout at Amador back in 2006 with my father. We were trolling the mentioned J-5 Firetiger Rapalas and never switched. One of the few lakes we never trolled with anything other than Rapalas.

trolling- grubs, apexes, raps and flies. I also have a new secret weapon that was killer last year. That one I wont talk about.

I only have fished from the bank there. Good ol' Powerbait works great. I like jigging a powerworm on a 1/32 leadhead if i can see them.

1 inch white crappie jigs 1/16th ounce jig head. Cutbows go to town on those crappie jigs.

Wooly Bugger flies can be great too. Behind a water bobber from shore or trolled slowly from a boat.

Nightcrawler behind Sepps rainbo trout pattern flashers, or just a green Gulp worm trolled slow on top.

float and fly technique with a pistol pete woolybugger black in color, and or sliding sinker rig with pink power eggs 5'-10' off the bank killed them last fall, winter ,spring. Also had good luck floating power eggs on the surface when they are top feeding.

I've only been there once, but i did great with 2 white power eggs and 1/2 a white power worm dipped into salmon egg power dip. Hope to hit it a little more this year, all great answers.

I've used all the mentioned lures and baits with great success. I have also used salmon roe under a bobber which also works really well.

Slow presentations seem to be the best out there.

I was just jerkin his chain. I think that most bankers that put in time there already know the "secret bait".
I'm am one of those here that belives in sharing info and have no problems posting where, how, what, when. Isnt that what this thread is all about? If he or I gave away something that will benefit other people - more power to them.
If I was seriousI would have PMed him.

Sorry my smiley face wasn't strong enough. I figured you were giving him a hard time. haha. If you have seen my post you know I give a ton of info. I hope Amador turns on soon. But I only want the surface bite that is more fun!!

It works fairly well out there on those tough days. Sometimes I'll bring grass shrimp...works like a charm.

Grass shrimp??? really? I have no doubts that it will work, but the day I have to go out and buy grass shrimp I will go bankrupt. Fishing at Amador is already expensive enough. The day trout stop hitting powerbait I will give up fishing all together. Haha

Floating it under a bobber works great or if you are fishing it off the docks just toss it out and let it slowly sink to the bottom then repeat. This will also work with Power Bait or Power Eggs.

Fire tiger ,orange or white grubs with different colored power egg heads .8 miles per hour or frog and silver shad needle fish depending on season at 1.1 miles per hour fire tiger j5 or blue and white j7 rappalas for the big boys 1.2 to 1.4 miles per hour

Sweet, caught my first Salmon hen yesterday and am doing my first attempt at curing roe. Hopefully it turns out so I can take it to amador and hopefully bring back some trout for the grill.

Try Thomas Bouyants, fire tiger J7 and drift power bait with split shot 10'-20' in the channel.
All worked well in the past not sure about now, have not been there 4-5 years.
