View Full Version : Fort Bragg 9/3 report and pics

My bro and I went out on the Fish-On Sunday afternoon. We limited on lings and had fat bags of quilbacks, olives, chinas, and blues. I hooked into five lings, with two of them double hitchhiking and popping off five feet below the boat. The third I gave to someone who had none.

Salmon action has died at the Fort, with the Fish-On only catching one small 21" salmon yesterday morning. I don't know if they have moved on or are just too full to bite: the rockies were puking up chovies left and right. Regardless, it looks like the Fish-On is hanging up on the salmon season.

Way to go FC. *That is truly sad news about the Salmon. *I had some of my best days last year at this time in shallow water off ten mile. *I'm a diehard. *I may give trolling a try this next weekend. *There has been some decent action up Shelter Cove way. *If the water is as flat as it appears it was this weekend, the Cove is less than an hour away at WOT. *I was hoping to have another day like you and I had, when Nogimmies was up and fished with Bob a few weeks back. *Nice pictures............Ben.

We were fishing off McKerricher (sorry for butchering the spelling) pretty dang deep: 170 ft or so. There were a bunch of suspended blues 20-70ft, however. Don was scooting around to a number of very small points. We would hit one, drift it once or twice, then move on to another.

Ben, the swell was a calm as could be yesterday. 3ft or even less, I would say. Very nice. It is supposed to pick up during the week but I haven't heard about the weekend. If you need a fishing partner this weekend I will be around. I think Shelter Cove would be a good move. My buddy slayed them out of Trinidad this weekend. Maybe we can conjur up a little more of that luck of the Irish!
