My gf heard of a fish that you can catch close to the shore from the ocean that can be caught on wax worms. Anyone know what kind of fish this is or if there even is something like this that exists. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

A better bet would be useing the little pink salad shrimp at the seafood dept. Cheep and works great.

here's a reg one not the biggest that day...
but a barbed perch none the less....
motor-oil grubs with flecks on a sliding sinker
15" leader 6-8lb test and shrimp sent too....
don't cast out very far, like less than 20ft and
sometimes there like at 10ft or less,
cast out, reel in slowly just after the wave passes
your bait.....

there are a couple different spieces.....
barbed perch
rubber lip
yellow tail
walleye
croker
spotfin

this is the kind of area you want to fish...
sandy beaches with small waves and
gentle slope and lots of kids on boggie boards
so if the fishing is slow at least you can have some fun......lol
just kidding.....

Hi, Pileworms and shrimp work for perch. Here's a little surf perch info. http://www.dfg.ca.gov/Mrd/mspcont2.html
