My wife and I are planning to do some peir fishing in Pacifica this weekend for fun ;D. We're rookies any tips would be helpful. We are using 7 1/2 ft spinning rods with 12lb test.
Thanx Minnowkiller

Bring some Sabiki Jigs and a couple of bobbers. The mackerel have been cruising the pier lately. Good luck!

make sure the sabiki rig hooks are big enough to hold a 1/2 inch chunck of anchovie, the macks love anchovie., for macks fish near the end.

for stripers fish on the surfline

for other fish use chunks of squid

and dont look up when a seagull flys over you.

if your really rookies, don't forget that you can fish with two rods on the pier, bring a heavy and light rod

I thought 2 rods are only permited in inland waters with the 2 rod stamp.

JT, years ago, 2 poles were allowed from public piers in saltwater. Step one foot off the pier on shore, and you needed both a license and only one pole. I assume it's still the same today.

Inland waters are different, as you said. Hope that helps.
