Took a buddy (Mike) out today and after a brief stop in Minor Slough for a couple Striper bites we set the pick in Prospect Slough for a little Sturgeon fishing. Shortly after getting there the boat next to us hooks a oversized 84 incher on shad! About an hour later Mikes rod takes a dip and when he picked it up it was pumping....he set the hook and the battle started! The battle lasted about 10 min and I netted his 44 incher! This one took eel/grass combo in 24 ft of water...and was his fist keeper! Water was 42 early and warmed to 45.

This guy Mike also holds the state record for bluegill.......just shy of 4 lbs!!! I think the sturgeon fought a little harder? I have been dragging my feet on posting a pic of his bluegill mount.....but you can imagine a 4 lb bluegill!!! HUGE!
