Fish of that size arent easy to release, Tony! unless you use really heavy tackle, then its hardly sportfishing! first off, fish this size can easily take a trolled lure so deeply that 10-20% off them will die simply due to gill rakers being torn from hooks. add in long fights as they are being tired out to attempt netting them, add more mortality.........simply put, if you fish you will kill fish..........Why do we feel the need to ask our fellow fishermen if they release fish, they are top quality healthy protein, and most of us should eat more of it!

Well, he is a guide promoting his business with pics of him personally holding up huge fish in thread after thread. Nothing wrong with that. But, he is promoting for possible clients and the question was legitimate without being critical, he should answer it with his personal policy towards catch and release. A bit different than just the fellow fisherman, he is offering a pay for service.

Today we hit 25 to 40 feet Toplineing off Cave Rock in the Rough and Hooked into several Monster Mackinaw... Perhaps the Best hitting streak so Far !!!! 10 Inch Monster Sticks Covered in Pro-cure Rainbow trout Gel !!! 300 feet back or so. 8, 10, and 20 Pound test P-Line...fully Loaded, on Ugly Sticks Tiger Rods and Shimano Tekota Reels at 2.5 to 4 miles an hour !!! We keep 2 Monster Bleeders !!!! I hold up Mine and Eric holds up His !!! Filleted and marinating right Now ... Bright Orange Fillets !!! Perhaps some of you should try it... Fishing and Netting .Trolling on the Water instead of the Keyboard is always more Productive for Getting Trout Netted. Our success is not limited to Lake Tahoe However. Almanor, Little Grass Valley, Bowman, Stampede, , and Donner to name a few, all produce Quality fish for us. Legally , We Keep what we kill and Eat it. We release the Rest that can Make it. We released over 400 fish alone last year, that is more than most have Netted. The problem with the Larger Fish is that They Inhale the Lures Deep into the Gills and plus they are Toast and you have to Keep them Most of the time, whether you want to Not........ 43 degrees Surface temps. We also PAY to Keep this Site Up for ALL TO Use and report our Trips and Catch in Reports. It's the Pictures that Truly show off the Success we Have. This one Fact... Some can handle or not.... depending on Maturity and Ability or Lack of it to Catch Trophy Trout Consistently. Like these two Monsters at a Total Weight of 38 Pounds ....20 and 18 Pounds !!!! Aloha !!!! gst http://imageshack.us/a/img40/410/083.JPGhttp://imageshack.us/a/img854/5525/074rz.jpg

The fish All had inhaled the Hooks into their Gills Boys......Bleeders Boys........ We Eat what we Kill . Today, while many Sat on their Hines Today and made Judgement

Ok, this remark is totally uncalled for, nobody was sitting home on their hines in judgement, it was a simple valid question asked a while back which you chose not to answer until called out. In fact looking at your previous posts you are not prone to answer many questions from other posters. Ok, gill hooked fish bleed all over the place, I don't see any blood on those big fish you guys hold up in your pics. The original question was not critical and valid, a smart ass answer does not help.

Im sure youve noticed by now, but nearly all his posts are about promoting his business. Hence the company phone number in every single OP, and lots of awesome pictures, but no real technical advice or answering of questions.

I support him promoting his business but I would like to see his clients holding up those huge fish not him and his son, a guide always looks much better when pics of his biggest fish are taken with clients. And yes, he did rub me wrong when he finally answered a question asked twice some time ago but saw fit to add a dig to people he thinks have nothing better to do than to ask a question. He knows nothing about the fishing habits of anyone here and the holier than thou crap doesn't fly with me.

I appreciate your posts and the financial support you contribute as a paid advertiser.

I can see that you have intimate knowledge of fishing Tahoe and other near-by waters.

I fully understand that even with care, a fish may be injured and will die.

I keep a few of my catch to eat.

I travel frequently to Tahoe and would love to fish with you and to Catch and Release a trophy fish. Can you share your efforts and policies for those of us who practice C&R?

Thank you

Fresno Jack ... asks........Can you share your efforts and policies for those of us who practice C&R?................... Well it is deep subject Jack. ....EVERYONE HAS HIS OR HER " OWN " WAY / PRACTICE/ PROCEDURE AS TO THE CATCH AND RELEASE OF GAME FISH .:turkycut1: As to ours...( I have answered this Question Many Times Over the Years Now .... before the Sniffer Forum/ Family split and after. ) Here it Goes..... We Keep what we Kill and Eat it. We release these into Olive Oil and cook to perfection. As In the Case of Tahoe Mackinaw ..they are a Western Delicacy and a Non- Native Species to Lake Tahoe and not wanted by the Federal Officials Here . :bbq1: The Fish that are Alive and we or the Clients do not want to eat while fishing Lake Tahoe in a Legal Fashion are Released if Possible , back into the Depths. :fish_jumps: For Belly Air Bladder Inflated Fish that Cannot swim off , But Yet are Still strong enough to Live if the Bladder is Released... this is what we try to do asap.... First we pump them back and forth, then if that does not work ( to release the Air Bladder).... we put them on a Modified Down rigger Lip clip ( Close Pin will do ) and drop them on the Rigger to 70 or 80 feet and the Air bladder is compressed and then we Put the Boat in gear moving forward and the Inflated fish are Compressed and pulled off the Lip clip.:zipped5ro: Their are many Versions of the system, such as a Upside Down Cage or milk Crate in used as well like Upside Down. And the Inflated Mackinaw is Placed in Said Cage and then dropped down to 70 80 feet and then reel up quick. Healthy fish swims off to Mate and feed another Day. Some Anglers still lance them with needles, However this Practice Does Injure a lot of Fish and Fouls the Internal Stomach cavity and its Meat. :yoda23uk: WHAT IS YOUR SOP ROUTINE FOR C AND R ? Aloha !!!! I have to go Now and Play with Mamma Bunny..... :bunny: gst
