Never thought I would be posting my PB german brown out of Folsom. But surprise it happened. I've been trying to track down a big brown all over stampede, icehouse, donner, Tahoe and I end up bagging a 28.5" 10# beast on Folsom! I knew they were in their and read 1 confirmed report this year of a 1#er. Caught the beast way up south fork in 53deg water on an f-11 rapala in hot steel doing 4mph with my kufa kokanee rod and 8# p-line cxx.. WOW what a great fish! I am surprised your kufa rod didn't snap! I bought one at the expo this year and it snapped the next day on a 17 inch trout. Luckily crystal basin exchanged it but they made it sound like the rod breaks a lot. Im scared to use it now!

Thanks for all the kind words fellas! Right place Right time!! As for my kufa rod not breaking... no clue. There was no keeping the tip up with this guy it was tip in the water most of the time! This pic will give a better idea of the brute next to a 17.5" rainbow.http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/n545/CHIL-LAXIN/IMG_1312_zps689d6a80.jpg

That is a beautiful fish! We used to catch a few browns out there when I was a kid (a few years ago). I thought they had all disappeared. Glad to see there may still be a few around. Thanks for sharing!

That's an awesome catch Chill-laxin, that river holds many nice browns. Back in highschool my best friend was a rafting guide and we were on that river every weekend, we would snorkle some of the big pools and deep holes and often see big browns like that one. Congrats again on your pb brown

Just seeing a trout that big caught out of Folsom sends me into a border-line fishing frenzy. I've never seen a trout that big and beautiful caught at Folsom. Congrats all around!
