View Full Version : Amador hot open water bite

Went trolling on Lake Amador 3/29/13.

AM hours trolled various depths near the shoreline-yielded 1 fish.

PM hours, with high sunlight, switched to UV Shasta Sling Blade/UV Hum Dinger/random scents over open water (lure depth=15', speed 1.5 mph)- yielded 6 fish in 3 hours @ 2-4#, and a nice base tan.

I always thought trout related to shoreline drop-offs and points, however on this day the best mid-day bite was suspended 15' down, over water in excess of 60' deep... perhaps the trout seek open water to get away from the warmer temps near the shoreline?

(water surface temp was 67 deg)

Anyways, props to the Staff at Amador, what a fishery they put together!

Nice post, id imagine they were chasing schools of shad in the open water.
