Nighthawk is now retired and is moving to the golden years boneyard of the Carson Valley. He was in town getting things setup and called me Tuesday night to see if I would be interested in a little river fishing. Wednesday morning we carbed up atg Sharkey's and headed south on US 395. We arrived at the glory hole below Bridgeport Res at 0745 to find us the only fishermen there. Water flow from the lake was at 60 CFS. The weather in the low 30s to start with little wind. We fished there for a little over 3 hours and got 3 fish. Tom got 2 Browns and a bow on a stick bait and I was using the stuff that didn't work. We returned via the Sweetwater vally with a brief look at the E. Walker and W. Walker in Nevada. On Thursday we visited some of the local spots. We intended nto fish ICR but 30 MPH + winds put an end to that. Showed him some spots on the East and West Carson. Nice fishing with you again Tom. When you return in May things will be jumping.

Richard - thanks for the pictorial chronicle of our two days out and about last week. Moving to the Carson Valley and taking full advantage of all its fishing opportunities is a long standing dream finally realized.

Jetspray (Dave) - we drove by your house with the hopes of getting an introduction but you had left already. Look foreward to meeting you and spending many a day fishing with you and the Captain.

By the way, love those East Walker browns but I always worry what the day will hold when you catch something on the first cast. Next time, I'll toss the first one in the wrong direction. See both of you in May. In the mean time, enjoy Pyramid Fest

That day we had taken my wife's F-150 to the shop and were out shopping with my F-350 at the new Walmart in town. You been there yet? We will be on future adventures I am sure........Jetspray

Jetspray - Did check out Walmart to get some hooks, egg sinkers and Gulp for ICR (which we unfortunately never used but will in the future). Impressive place and easy to find yourself wandering around looking at stuff. Surprised that it didn't have any slot machines (an anomaly for Nevada). I'm waiting for them to install bars at Walmart. As I read somewhere else, it could take people watching to another level.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say TOM looks like Mickey T, only 20 years younger......:jasper:

Cc is that section below the res open all year round? I haven't fished there since I was a kid so I'm out of touch with the regs. If I'm not mistaken there used to be cutthroats in there also. It's barbless and artificial still right?

The river below the Re is open all year. Barbless only.

Last Saturday in Apr. through Nov. 15. Minimum size limit: 18 inches total length. Only artificial lures with barbless hooks may be used. NOTE: BOW AND ARROW FISHING FOR CARP ONLY IS PERMITTED.

Nov. 16 through the Friday preceding the last Saturday in Apr. Only artificial lures with barbless hooks may be used. NOTE: BOW AND ARROW FISHING FOR CARP ONLY IS PERMITTED.

You can keep one fish over 18 inches during regular trout season. After that the limit is zero.

The pictures bring back memories back in the late sixties when a fishing buddy and I used to hit the big hole below the culvert pipe opening day every year. The browns that came out of that hole were incredible and talk about combat fishing....fisherman lined up on both banks trying to hook the big one. We would stumble down the rocks in the dark to find a prime spot only to find that other guys had the same idea. The biggest fish I caught was a six pounder with my buddy landing one eight pounds. Congratulations on the nice fish and beautiful pictures.
