View Full Version : Moss Landing Salmon April 19, 2013

04-19-2013, 05:09 PM
One 9# wild King, one LDR, one SDR, one HNS. I fished (solo). I launched at Moss Landing, Woodward. I trolled all day on my main motor at 2.5 mph. Cable baiter with a naked anchovy all day at 88 OTW. I used both downrigger balls today, Hot Spot green/silver flasher on one, Kone Zone flasher, baited rig on the other. I needed bells on my rod tip, again, to detect the hits as I had to pay attention to other boaters in the area. 6.5 hours (6-12:30), 35 miles. Two locations: one in close, 250 deep, 54.4* water with jelly fish; most of the day around 36.41.738 by 121.59.409 (lots of bait, birds). Sunrise 6:28, % moon visible 53. Santa Cruz tides: H 5:34 3.8, L 12:37 0.6. My action occurred between 8:27-10:45. Water 54.4-49.4 (where I had action)*, very little debris on or in the water. Air 50-62*. Sky clear. Wind 6-7 mph, wind waves 1-3, swell NW 2-5 @ 8 seconds. A lot of boats out today. Sounded like another slow day except for a few boats that reported several hits/rod, fish landed.
