Went out to a secret spot where I've never seen anybody fish and caught a few browns, my first trout of 2013! Nothing big but it was sure nice to do some rock climbing and fishing in solitude. The water was a little too high to fish efficiently, I'd give this spot another 3-4 weeks before it's prime. Managed to attract some LUNKERS while jigging a 1/6 oz gold bass pro spoon, they looked at it very aggressively but I wasn't able to get them to commit. If I had been positioned better, I could've caught one of those bad boys I'm sure. A shout out to DLloyd for tipping me off to jigging, I will definitely start jigging for trout with spoons more often! There are definitely some BIG fish in this smaller river. Can't wait to be able to cross the river and hit up the good spots.

Nice to see you blew the dust off your trout rod and hooked a few.

Good looking brown there. Glad you got out. If one knows where to look there is some great stream fishing in the "off" season. Winter is best!!!

I was hoping to see a fly hanging out its mouth! Now that the weather is warmer I look forward to seeing some nice brown pics :)

+1 Don't hang that rod in the winter, if the water is there, then most of your summers spots will still hold fish in that general location, if they're legally open then hit 'em. Plenty of streams and rivers stay open year round. RideNfish and I have had some pretty hot fishing day while chipping of ice from our rod tips. Another reason is because brown trout spawn in the fall-winter and they are a little easier to catch.
