Went out N about trying for shad, same thing for me nothing.....either I forgot how to fish for shad or the shad just forgot what a grub looks like?

I'm thinking these low flows have them holding in deep water.

Or maybe the stripers are eating them all.

It's probably that darn sealion eating them up he or she still at Hagen. Saw it the other day when I was bike riding and I thought it was gone by now

The lack of Big Ant's presence on this conversation leads me to believe that he's catching all of them before they even make the turn up the AR. If you guys want shad, may have to try downstream from him.

I was actually thinking the same thing. He's on to some shad somewhere.

I caught my first Shad of the year this afternoon. I caught two of them. One of them was caught around 8:20 on my last cast of the evening. I fished above Watt Ave. The fishing is very slow. And the water level is the lowest I have ever seen on the American. I could'nt even fish my favorite spot. I could'nt get a drift. I fished down from it with a 1/32oz chatreuse shad dart with a champagne grub, and no split shot. There were 5 other anglers who did'nt catch any shad.
I think I will try fishing below watt ave for the next week.14095

Matt, did you notice how far out of the water "the bush" is in his picture?

westcoastdave

You will need to fish a jig under a float on most of the "beach". There is almost no current there right now. Like I said earlier, I had to find a spot with enough current to cast a jig with no splitshot.

I didn't even recognize that spot until I looked at the picture again....very depressing seeing the water that low!!

First trip this year. Hooked 5 landed 4. Also hook a bonus striper on my shad gear that never knew he was hooked. Needless to say I wasn't able to land the striper. Fished just above watt

Colors today were white jighead/champagne grub and chartreuse jighead/clear grub. Used just 1splitshot as flows are low
