The stats are correct. That is how many people we always get daily. The numbers you are used to seeing reflect hourly traffic, now it shows daily traffic.

Chris, I'd say about 90% of the lurkers daily are actully bots. Bot is short for robot and is a small computer program that's designed to probe websites. Some of them gather information for Search engines and some of them are looking for way's in to gather personal information.

Many of these bots were written years ago and are still out there making their rounds. They wont quit until all the computers that they've found to live on are gone. I've found some that are 20 years old and what they were designed to do no longer has any relevancy.

I've got an industrial strenght firewall on my network that logs about 35,000 hack attempts per day.

Just over 4300 of them today are bots. Ive been trying to tell them for years that the lurkers that everyone often complain about on the site are simply bots. So much for the whole spot blowing theory.

Chris, theyre only lurking your posts, so the rest of us are fairly safe. And now that you know how to post pics, theyre just drooling to see what you're catching.

Thanks for the explanation. Always wondered what the bots, just to many other things to do than google what they were.
