caught 21 this morning and missed tons of bites and had 5 throw the hook and one break the line. first cast was a somewhere around 7lb shad. thought i had a striper on, it pulled super hard and didnt shake its head much. felt like something 15 lbs. was a huge hen. really tested my gear. was by myself so this was the best i could do for pics. i released her very quickly. had a probably 25 lb striper follow up a small male shad and tried to eat him 3 times, very mad i left the large rod and bait feeder reel at home. i will get one of the monster stripers before the season is over. tight lines and good luck. tons of fish in the water!!!!14635146361463714638

I would have kept the fish and weighed it as soon as possible. You could have caught a new state record. The California state record is 7 pounds 5 ounces, caught on the Feather river. It's not like it was a threatend species of fish. But still it's a nice catch. Hopefully it will pass on it's good genes.

Nice job! Thanks for the report. Damn a I hate when a scenario like that unfolds.. Next time bring the STRIPER ROD!!:posteroops2lu: lmfao There always a good chance of getting into one of them bigger stripers when fishing for shad.. Good luck on getting one of those monsters!:signfishon34hi6zv:

I tried to just type upper but I needed atleast ten characters to post so I shoulda said "upper lower".
