I make them in a light dry type batter that is very nice and crispy. Here is a video I made of me cooking up some of my catch.

You are correct, but its ok you can use it too in cooking and it wont kill you! Trust me I'm still alive, haha. Yeah for the way I do the batter I doubt it is even useful. It would probably be fine without it to tell you the truth.

I was just messin, I love my fried fish, I think the powder will give you a fluffier batter, I use it in a tempura recipe with club soda and it rocks.
