Going out on Joeys boat out of Berkeley on Thursday. I am assuming we will be mooching and I haven't mooched in years.

Can you guys please tell me what tackle set up people are using for mooching? Braid or mono? Mono or fluorocarbon leader? How long of a leader? Three way swivel?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance.

i use 20 lb mono,, banana sinker or slider,,, 5-6 feet of 20-25 lb leader with 2 circle hooks hard tied as per regs... 7 1/2 foot to 8 1/2 foot rod with abu 6501.. back in the days i liked to use braid with a 6 foot mono shock leader... when it was still legal to use j hooks and could feel every bump 150 feet down and could set the hook... with the circle hooks now i just like to use mono... it works good with the extra stretch, reel down to fish and no hook set...

I recommend using floro-carbon leaders. The last few times I went, the people using floro-carbon leaders out caught the rest of the people on the party boat by a wide margin.
