Tested a new Mini HD Camera today at the port. Here's a shot with it on my hat while my GoPro records over my shoulder.

Vid is clean. How is the pricing compared to Go-pro? Was that the HD Go-pro?

Were you paddle trolling bass lures? Never saw that before

Nice setup !

The cams are about $40. Filmed everything in 1080P, but didn't post it at that to youTube because I was lazy.. Anytime you inlay a vid in another, the inlay is not HD.

Was trolling for stripes, but happened to get a bass with both cams running. Lure is a Rapala Trolls-to 20 flat crank. Works well for stripes and bass. Second rod was a 5" big hammer.

do tell what it is.. im looking for a cheapish cam that i can have as a head mount. any sort of water proofing ( or i should say splash proof) ?

Not water proof at all. I have been prototyping a couple of housings that can be used to troll the camera in-line just ahead of the lure. The camera is about the size of a standard car key fob. Had an issue with the housing today, so no video from that yet, but I'll have something working soon. Cameras were purchased directly from the plant in China.

Wes, do those use a micro SD card or are they fixed memory. If they're fixed it's not a huge problem because I do have an ultra book on the boat that I can dump it off to and make SD card copies for the clients to take with them. Do you know when they'll be available?

They take microSD up to 32GB. Battery is only good for about 55 minutes, but can be recharged via USB (5v) in about 30 minutes.

Its fixed, but on one of my waterproof housing prototypes, I have an external LiPoly battery pack pig tailed to the board that extends record time to a little under 2 hours, but it doesn't charge via USB.

I have used old 10v laptop battery packs to charge USB devices on the road. You can charge the cam several times off these. My idea is to have one or two cams charging while using a third or forth cam and swap every hour.

I'm pretty well set as far as charging goes. I run a Rigid 100 watt inverter for the ultra book. Sounds like these will work perfect.

Do these come with the housings or do I need to make those myself. No biggie to make them, I'm pretty handy.

Steve,

Here's the US version of the camera.

Amazon.com : Makeit Mini DVR 808 #16 V2 -Lens A Car Key Chain Micro Camera HD 720P Pocket Camcorder Webcam : Computer Keyboards : Computers & Accessories (http://www.amazon.com/Makeit-Camera-Pocket-Camcorder-Webcam/dp/B00BXERYMY)

The one I used in the video is a newer version that does 1080P and has an upgraded 110* wide angle lens.

There is a waterproof housing similar to the GoPro on eBay. I've heard mixed reviews of it. It does not support the wide angle lens.

I remember reading this thread after I saw this deal posted today. $20 for a waterproof HD video recorder.

I have zero experience with it, but there are a couple youtube videos posted with its quality. Seems pretty decent, assuming you can find a way to mount it to yourself, yak, or boat:

VistaQuest Sport 1080p HD Waterproof Video and 8 MP Digital Camera (http://www.priceplunge.com/?ai=7244&utm_medium=email&utm_source=ai7244&emid=608895&em=D1RUfUi9MWHZlMDvHJMX2w-e-e)

Youtube clips (Be sure to switch to 1080p):
DV820HD.MOV - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDsFU1zVTCc)

VQ HD Pool Shot - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJiJYiym1Bs)

Only downside is it takes AA batteries and who know's how long it can record for. But for $20 it seems like it COULD be a cheap investment to recording your self slamming that trophy fish!
