I know you can dig them up at Bodega Bay during low tide. That's the only place I've ever seen them caught :-/

Ghost shrimp are "pumped" through PVC tubes called (surprisingly) Shrimp Pumps!

Just about any muddy bay shoreline has 'em. A google search for shrimp pump or a search at pierfishing.com will yield info on where to buy pumps, how to make pumps, where to pump for shrimp, and the MANY adverse effects shrimp pumps and shrimp pumpers have on the shrimp's ecosystem.

I pump mine Out at bodega . There are ghost and mud shrimp to be found out there at low tide ;D
Most of the ones you purchase at the stores come from shrimp farms in Washington

We've had them get sucked up in our pumps before at Seal Island digging for Horseneck Clams. Interesting...does it say in the regs what the bag limit is for ghost(sand)and mud(blue) shrimp??

Nevermind, I found it:

29.87. Ghost Shrimp and Blue Mud Shrimp.
Limit: Fifty in combination.

Best thing to use to catch fish in the Area
Itís best to use schedule 40 PVC pipe and youíll need PVC glue. Now in order to make the outside tube you will need

You can suck them out of the sand on a minus tide at Bay Farm Island, Alameda.

Weird, i didn't delete my post. ???

Couple of things that have worked for me.

Instead of pumping on the sand, go an inch or two into the water to get better suction.

Instead of going for the big holes, look for the groupings of smaller holes and stick the pump right in the middle.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck!
