7 inch and any color works for us. The bigger the swim bait, the bigger the fish!

white or rootbeer and the bigger the jig the bigger the fish

I gotta second the rootbeer. Whatever size jig head it takes to hit bottom.

i pull the flies off a cod rig
put on 2 swim baits of different color until i find the correct setup
i use a 1lb ball and fish mostly in 100+ feet
when all else fails i set up a halibut rig with a small live blue or black

I like that idea. Do you just keep the ball on the bottom as much as possible?

i bounce the bottom just like you would bounce a jig bar
i think the heavy lead makes noise slamming the rocks
to bring out the big boys

Actually the 1# ball is to wake there big fat a__ up so they can take a look at that simulated seatrout you have on your line....rootbeer...Great

Noise does attract them, but the irresistable, tantilizing houchi cu that the swimbait does is too cool to pass up ;D

OK, Shhhhhhhhhh :-X
ling cod love octapus and squid, its like candy to them.
so if you rig up 2 large white hoochies with large trebles
and put the bar as a wieght or a heavy ball so as to stay
in contact with the bottom and hipy hop befor you can say
the easter bunny you will get your ling...
or use a halibut rig with a whole dead squid on it and
you will be feasting on ling cod tonight....
it also helps to find rocky bottom structure too....
as for swim baits I like white, and the rootbeer...
and also the 10/12" white or black ell is deadly too... ;) 8)

When we were on the Rumblefish out of Fort Bragg, I put on a rootbeer scampi and the guy next to me was givin me the "what is that?" look. First drop...ling cod. 45 minutes later 19.5lbs ling cod :D
