It's been a little dry up there. The ranchers are pumping more ground water for their alfalfa. The small ponds you see along I-5 north of Weed have gone completely dry for the first time in years. One has to wonder if the pumping has affected the water table to the extent that these lakes and ponds are drying up.

The fish should have been concentrated!

Oooh that happened to me once in Wyoming. Kind of an erie feeling to drive over a rise and see a desert where the lake should be...

Very sad indeed. What is the structure half submerged in the pic in front of the dam?

I may be off a little but I think this is the 15th year of drought like conditions for Northern Ca.

The long range forecast last June was for above normal rainfall for Washington and Oregon but little change from last year for northern California. Unfortunately, so far, they seem to have it right.

n2, that is the pump house intake that fills the canal for the farmers. Back when "CHIPS ERIC ESTRADA" was selling the lake it was kept full. Now all the contruction has died and home prices have dropped the lake gets empty every year. There have been reports of 9lb browns in there and I have caught some large trout there in the past. If you don't make it out before about june the ramp is out of water.
