I have no complaints right now. I have a beautiful wife that lets me fish when I want, great family and friends new and old that I could not be happier having in my life. Veterans that have impacted me as much as I them, and now a job that allows me to fish everyday in the Sierra lakes and streams! Not to mention my sniffer buddies that always raise my spirits and entertain me daily. My chronic illness has been under great control and I can say that fishing has saved my life! Look forward to posting many reports to come from many hours on the water for the next few months. Tight lines and happy holidays you fishin fools!

Last week a little front came in and dusted everything, we will see how it is when I get back up there after this weekend. It's been very cold

Should have plenty of upper, middle and lower kings river reports throughout the winter months, unless the upper gets blown out. Tight lines - TO

Great job! When I lived in Fresno, Wishon and Courtright were two my favorite lakes to fish.

Beautiful country up there! If the weather holds I'll try to make it up to Courtright. You ever fish Blackrock? I hear it's a great remote trout lake with fairly low pressure, probably ride the dirtbike up there before Christmas and check it out.

Never made it to Blackrock. I love to fish Dinky Creek. The trout cant resist a drifted live cricket there. Its cool that you ride. I get down there and ride Miami once to twice a year. I havent been on my CRF250X since February. I have a torn Rotator Cuff in my left shoulder. I'm jonesin' for a ride something fierce. What bike do you ride?

Yeah I'm living on dinky creek through the winter! I'll have to try some of my hopper patterns see what happens. I've suffered many knee injuries from riding so I know how you feel. I've had many bikes but my favorites are my cr250 2 stroke and my old school xr250 1986, just sold my 2006 crf450x cause.... Well.... I got married and had to buy the wife a bike haha

Wow, I had a 96 CR250R and a 86 XR250R as well! The CR was cool but I loved that XR! Bought it new from the dealer before he even got the paperwork in. Paid $2000 cash. Sold it in 05 for $1200. Not bad, cost me only $800 for 19 years of riding. Just change the oil once a year and clean the air filter and it would run forever. Wish i still had it now. Didnt like the 450X, was too worn out after a ride. I can go way faster in the tight stuff on my 250X.

Haha that's funny! Yeah the 450 was an instinctive buy at the time, I made it street legal/ CA plated to use as a means to ride from the cabin into the hills to fish ,but seemed like a waste for the amount I took it "on" road, the xr250 is lighter and does plenty fine with anything I throw at her. Maybe we will have to find a bunch of dirt bike fishin fools on the forum and plan a ride to a lake!

That would be great. I should be going under the knife for the rotator cuff in a few weeks so we'll have to plan something in the spring. Thank God its my left shoulder. I would go crazy if it were my right and coulnt fish!

Its getting chilly down here so its must be cold up there. I haven't fished Dinkley creek before. Do people just park at the turn heading up to wishon/courtridge and walk the creek. When we got up there this year, there wasn't much water and when there are water in the summer months, we always see people in the water at that location.

I'll be checking this post about the kings river :)

Yep, thats where we always parked. Just bring an Ultralite rod, a few splitshot, Single egg hooks, a couple of small bobbers, a container of crickets and a jar of Salmon eggs. Walk down stream a short way and you will see a large boulder in the middle of the creek. Start there and then work your way down stream hitting all the holes as you go. Never, ever been skunked there! Good luck. Kevin

Guessing you work for PG&E if you are staying up there. Wishon should fish well before the lake freezes up and you will have the lake to yourself when they close the gate at Dinkey creek. Remember that all the creeks are closed in this area till the trout opener in April, while the lakes are open year round.....ice fishing at courtright might be interesting. Good luck

Our company is sub contracted by PG&E for Hydro Stations most the year, we also are mostly a military sub contract Co working on Bases throughout the state. I'm fortunate enough to meet great soldiers and vets and get the opportunity to take them fishing quite often.
You are right about dinkey creek, I will be anticipating the April opener even though I usually head to Tahoe for that.... Until then I'll be fishing the year round sections of the kings river, and surrounding lakes. Looking forward to sharing with you guys and hopefully fishing with some of you soon! Tight Lines and happy holidays - TO
