Went fishing with my brother last week and caught a lot of trout. Most we're caught on worms and a few on panther martins. Had a couple hits on brown trout rapalas. All from shore about 4-20' out. The fish started biting at 9. Delicious on the smoker

Good looking fish, especially the BIG one. Haven't fish there in a few years, might give it try this winter. Thanks for the report!

Rollins is so damn low I'm not sure there IS a launch right now.

But yeah me and my son caught a few there the other day. Concentrated.

Just for info, according the the maintenance guy at Orchard Springs (the ramp on the far side) the ramp has only been out of the water once that he can remember. We launched there a week ago without any problems except for the walk up the hill. Good luck.

Rollins is a Nevada Irrigation District reservoir and you can check the forcast here:

Nevada Irrigation District Recreation & Campground Information (http://nidwater.com/recreation/)

According to this forecast all the ramps should be in the water but I haven't been there to lay eyes on it.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have wrote that. It was partially in jest, but the lake is low. I hope I didn't confuse anybody.

I live right on Rollins, and the lake is actually coming up a little. Both Long Ravine and Orchard springs launch ramps are in good shape and plenty useable for any size boat.

The lake is coming up a little bit. People are launching their boats. It is hit and miss but I went today and got to fish in the snow.... Awesome! I caught two rainbows one on split shot 2 feet up with blue white pink power bait. One on a worm Gerking it on the bottom. Also a spotted bass all between 12-14".

Good day of catchin! For a lake so close, I have never hit it. Always seem to drive by it though. Doesn't Rollins get really muddy in the winter?

Had the truck for 4 months now. Wish i could of went early as only fished for an hour.

The worker out there said "Personally, I think you are nuts" and I replied "Personally, I think you're right!"

What spots are generally good places to go? I'll be banking it.

Obviously understand if you're unwilling to give specific spots, but just a general area would be cool. Thanks in advance.

Always had luck near the dam and point at orchard springs. But did pretty well at the other entrance, so might go there again. Im banking as well

Last time I fished there we caught a bunch of rainbows right under the big turnout where you first see the lake on Rollins Rd, outta Colfax.

Lately we've seen several people doing pretty good at the end of You Bet road. Might be worth a try.

Is the snow still sticking around?

I live nearby and we still have some icy crud on the ground for sure, but I haven't actually been to the lake. I am going to go on Thursday around nine or ten. Hopefully I don't slide right in, the part where I fish is STEEP.

I do have a question. If i payed at one gate, do I have to pay in the other gates to access the same lake?

I can't say for sure but not the case at any lakes I have been to. Melones, San Luis, O'neill, Pedro, etc. If you paid the "park fee" then it is good everywhere.

Good luck!

I would think you're good unless those places are privately owned.
