Decided to go up to Rollin's Lake yesterday morning after reading many of the reports and my two recent trips to Amador resulted in that horrible smell of skunkage.

Left the house at about 6 a.m. and after a brief stop to get a Cronut (yes, they're as good as advertised) made it to the lake at about 7 a.m. Had never been there, but decided to fish the cove over by the boat ramp by the campground on the south west side of the lake. One reason we decided to just stick there was that the roads weren't too icy for my camry. There was still some ice on the road but with some low gears and cautious driving, it wasn't too bad.

Got lines in at about 7:30 or so, with me, CalAngler and another friend (6 lines in total). CalAngler got the first fish on by about 8:30 or so, using orange garlic-scented gulp eggs, which prompted me to change both my lines to the same.

Got my first fish on at about 9 a.m. First fish wasn't much of a fighter but sure felt good to feel that tight line again after my two previous outings. Next fish I caught was much more of a fighter and took a nice run, also caught on orange garlic-scented power eggs.

I ran out of the orange ones so I eventually tried the pink ones and many different colors of powerbait but couldn't get any more bites on them. Also tried throwing every shiny lure I had and nothing.

A lot of fish could be seen coming up to the shore and seemingly eating the bait that was left in the shallows.

All in all, great first trip up to Rollin's and I look forward to going back and checking out more of the lake. We left at about noon and ended up with six total fish from the three of us, with none of us getting skunked thankfully.

Met two other guys out there that showed up when we were getting all the bites, not sure if they're on here, but it was good talking with you and hope you guys got into some fish up there.

Yea I just don't know what's going on with that lake for me. I decided I need to give it a little break, and Rollin's was a nice substitute! Hope you get into some at Collins, it's no fun having a skunk streak.

It was a good day indeed, all three of mine were on the orange garlice scented gulp eggs a foot above a swivel with a bead then a 1 ounce weight. Cold morning out there but well worth it

Thanks for the report, thinking of heading there or Camanche Tues. or Wed?? I am thinking Camanche North Shore..
Did you say "1 oz wait?" do you mean an 1/8 or 1/4oz?? or were you using 1 ounce. I would think that would be to heavy? IMO I guess not if you were catching fish with it..

No I was using a 1 ounce to get it about 30-40 yards from shore, I have a heavier trout rod than most.

Oh ok understood, yea I use a little Fenwick Eagle GT. Great rod, a little 10-12in trout feels a lot bigger:) Cant beat the price for $59.99 with a warranty..
