What are some techniques and tips for fishing lings and rockfish? I'm very new to the forums and want to start fishing as a hobbie. If I can get a heads up on what i'm doing it would be very greatful of all you guys... Nice meeting yah.....

From the rocks and the pier. I'm from the east bay so are there any places near here?

Welcome aboard crows...
In Bodega Bay there are many different areas to get them from the shore. Check out the previous posts...They are accessible from the shore.

I catch alot of rock fish using 1oz jig head with pearl 3-4 grub or shassy shad silver black back.just cast it out and retreive slowly just enough to keep from hanging up.

3 inch Kalin's green/brown grub rigged on a 1/4 ounce leadhead jig. I've slayed black and blue rockfish with this!

Oh, and if you're new to rockfishing, be prepared to bring lots of tackle with you, since the rocks can sometimes bite better than the fish.

Am I suppose to fish where there is alot of rocks? Is Alameda Rockwall pretty good for rocks and lings?
