There's a lot of carp in there and if you can adjust your head enough it would be fun fishing. If I was going to, I would try the deep water below the first shallow "riffle" nearest the salt water and use something that a lot of fish would eat including carp. I know a place or two in SoCal that guys would do that and pick up a straying Steelhead back in the day. So I would try toward the end of the big January dry spell that comes most every year but still the LA River would be putting out the most fresh water around and fish right there.......I imagine a steelhead or two or three go up the LA river most every year.

I love the carp in those rivers. Great food for the cat.

How do you go after them there? I know they can be skittish.....I think some call them a poor mans Bonefish lol.

Try sweet corn on a #6 mosquito hook, no weight in a slack spot, or as little weight as you can use. I will cast 20 feet sometimes with light tackle and no weight at all, and do great on carp. Get ready for a fight if you hookup to a big one on light tackle!
