Hi guys. I'm new to the forum but not new to the sport. I'd never had much thoughts about reading a Fishsniffer magazine because I always read In Fisherman but boy was I wrong about that Sniffer magazine. I thought the Sniffer was sort of mediocre by the way it looked but when I actually picked up the magazine and started reading, it was a WHOLE lot better than In Fisherman. I read so much during my breaks and lunch that I decided to join the forum out of respect for such great details and depths that magazine had over In Fisherman. I guess the old saying is true after all; don't judge a book by it's cover.

Well with that said, today I had the chance in a long bit of time to fish Lake Amador. Boy was the water low and what a hike it was to get down to the lake. Overall my buddy and I did pretty good. We hit the water at 7 am and fished till 2 pm and both of us caught our limit on a variety of tackle. Flies, powerbait, hardware, and etc. One thing I did notice though was that the trout weren't very big; averaging 1-3lbs at most but the good thing was they were plentiful! They weren't grabbing the lures very violently though like most years. It was more of a nip like a small panfish but when we did set the rod, the fish would fly and do all sort of crazy acrobatic flips and such!

But overall we had a blast. I will try and post pics with report I make in the future because only fly guys like tall tales! :bugsbunny:JK!:appledancing:
My limit at 2pm

Welcome! I'm so jealous of your catch. Been there twice and was skunked. Third times a charm though right?

Welcome and great post. Now post a "skunk" report next so we know you are a real person. LOL

Well done and you will learn a lot here. That is if you want to. Invite yourself with others as well. Not enough people do it. I like it when it works out. Meet a lot of cool people that way.

Cheers,

Welcome to the Sniffer:beer:, lots of good info and people here, as already stated! The wife and I saw you taking those pictures yesterday, we were in the Tundra parked in front of you. We did a "drive-by", as we were in the area and decided to check on Amador. Lots of boats and bankers, but you two seemed to have done best, congrats:action-smiley-035:!

Danny, I'm hoping to be there Wedensday, depends on the daughter's work schedule. I'll either be off the dam area or perhaps I'll give the spillway area a try, depending on the crowd, stop by and say hello:beer:!

Frieda, don't give up, Amador has been a little different this year, talk to folks about what kind of set-ups to use and the areas to check out. I've had days there where I couldn't buy a bite, and I move 30 feet or so and start slamming them. From my experience this year, I've been changing baits until they start hitting something, unlike in the past where one bait was good enough.:duh:
