We fished Melones today from 7-10am. Launched at TT and head up river in search for NM's elusive HOLDOVERs. With high hope and recent RAIN we fan cast for about an hour only entice a few chasers. There were no surface activities at all and we started to smell skunk in the air, so we decided to give up the coves and creek arms and headed to one of our secret flat.
Beached the boat and walk the bank tossing Thomas, wooly and orange power worm and we landed our first fish in just a few cast. We C&R lots of planters and only managed 2 holdovers in the mix. Kept 8 for the smoker.
It was a fun day again at NM, had to cut it short because the WIND started howling and the RAIN clouds moved in. Im praying for more RAIN!!!

That was a good day in my book. I like how the planters here are clean, healthy and full finned. Feisty too.

Nice and looks like you got some holdovers looking at those full tails and fins!

A good mess of fish. Nice color. NM seems to be the class act of the west slope. Got to get down there one of these days.

They hit hard yesterday, slammed the lures and inhaled the woolly.
