Since Mike had to work two of his three days off, Last night he had decided not to go. I was going to take the boat out by myself. Well as I was getting ready this morning he changed his mind (YAY!) and was eager to come along.

I had planned on getting a late start in order to miss the commute traffic and the lingering sprinkles. Got to the boat launch and on the chocolate stained water right at 10am.
I wanted to fish Scow canyon so we headed there first. Still low but very fish-able. We spent over an hour without a bite.Moved around a bit and still nothing.

So off to Sandy point.
Same story no action. We were getting a little discouraged. Close to 1pm we took a shot in the dark and pulled the boat up to shore near the dam. After about 30 minutes we started talking about trolling. Just then the police boat shows up and checks our licenses and such. They were very nice and told us they were sorry that we hadn't had a bite all day. Then he added " You know sometimes when we stir up the water with our boat it can trigger a strike". We smiled saying we sure hoped so.

Then guess what happened? Yep! It was crazy! In an hour and a half we each had our limits. Ranging in size from 12" to a 21" 6.5lb hen. We actually caught eleven total but only kept seven. All but one caught on white power eggs.

We left at 3:30 hoping to beat the traffic and get something to eat. I was expecting to write a dismal skunk report but I guess you just never know when the day can completely turn around. So glad it did. And super happy Mike was there to see me land that big hog!
Now we have a new spot to try for the tournament on Saturday. Super excited!

Have a great week everyone and keep on doing those rain dances (it's working) as we still need a lot more!
Take care...

Lake looks great, I always fished the Scow first before I started trolling anytime I went. Hope you get some more rain coming in this weekend. We may get some more over here. Those fish will do well in the smoker with your recipes.......Jetspray

nice trouts. What size hooks are you using? That one in the mouth looks really huge. it looks the to a size 4 or maybe even a two. That may be part of you problems.

Thanks friends! Troutbead, That hook isn't that big the fish was just small. We were having trouble releasing the ones that came on the small treble hooks. For the tournament I think you have to keep the first five fish you catch no matter what size. Is this right?
Kristy.

Great trip and what a way to leave on a high note! congrats on the large arse trout!
And I always bring my bank gear when trolling, but no matter how bad it is with the potential skunk looming, I've never just stopped and fished. Just always feel the need to be on the go. Hmmm, maybe your on to something.
