View Full Version : Amador after the rain. 3-2-14

Up at 4am and after the long drive we were on the water by 7:30. The lake is up from last weekend by a foot or two and still climbing. We launched the boat and headed for our spot in the canyon as we did last Sunday.

Cold, gray and windy all day. A few sprinkles too. Really needed the extra layers of clothing I brought.
Also very muddy water. In fact when bringing in a fish and you finally see your weight/swivel and you still can't see the fish. Made netting a little difficult today.
Possibly why we lost four of our fish. But on the bright side we did land nine trout to 18" only keeping two that refused to give us our hooks back. All were caught on either power eggs or mice tails and a couple on chartreuse power bait.

We stayed in the same place all day. Very low fishing pressure today. Only saw one other boat catch a fish although we did see a few on some stringers. The float tube guys we talked to said they had one for the day.

We had our radio on most of the time and could hear our friend Nathan and little Nate at lake Pardee crushing the Kokanne. Good job guys! I am glad the kokes are biting. We will be after them very soon. I responded but our lame handheld VHF didn't get through.

The fishing slowed about 1pm and the rain started so it was time to pack it up. Stopped at Websters in Clements for some great burgers then drove home in the pounding rain. The boat needed a good power washing anyhow. lol. Here are some extra pics from today....

Most excellent day guys. You are hammering the fish and nice ones to boot. I'd go over the hill for some of your good fishing but I'm spending all my gas money on Pyramid. Good fish count in the muddy water.

Great job! I sometimes like braving the weather for fish. Something fun about it. To me anyway... Glad you guys had a good time. The only part lacking in your report is the pics and review of the burger! LOL
