My buddy wants to take his boat out next weekend, and Topaz is a quick and easy trip from Reno. I haven't heard anything lately, but the reports earlier in the season from Captain_Compassion were not too promising. Has anyone been there lately? I've had decent luck there past in the Spring, and with our weak winter waning I'm hoping Topaz fishing will heat up. Also there should still be some of those $100 tagged fish in there... They did that again this year right?

Anyone know if the ramp is open yet?

Can't say about the free ramp, as I've never used it, but the one at the boat rental place should be open.

Not going to make it out today. I am going to try to this week still.

I was planning to go over there later in the week to check it out. My wife likes lunch at the Casino overlooking the lake. I have two stickers for the county launch & fishing the lake ($25 a piece for each truck, so $50 for a year ain't so bad). I will take a look at the county launch, but not the marina or the trailer park launches. It is launchable from the shoreline for small boats, but mine is 19'6" and too heavy to play sand launch.......Jetspray

I can't imagine it hasn't come up some. Launching my 15' Gregor with a 40 horse was a breeze off shore in early January. I would be surprised if the lake isn't high enough to open the ramp up.

+1 I agree, it just needs a look, I want to see that there is enough water and a ramp to launch my boat. The lake is the downstream storage for the ranchers in the valley, it is why it exsists. It will be great to fish the inlet again......Jetspray

Thanks boss. Impeccable timing. Sounds like it is slow as hell. Wonder if it is worth messing with. Maybe I will stick with ICR.

Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately that's what the reports have been saying all year. You'd have to think that trolling would be more productive then. Still, might be worth trying someone else then.
